NZ Podcast Awards Announces New Categories and Sponsors

The New Zealand Podcast Awards has today announced the addition of three new categories to its inaugural awards.

Awards for Best True Crime Podcast, Best Science & Nature Podcast and Best Current Affairs have been added, due to popular demand from nominees. Podcasts that have already submitted their nomination will be added to any of the new categories where applicable. ​

​

In addition, Radio New Zealand has been added as the presenting partner of the award for Best Podcast by a Kiwi Abroad, joining Acast, Triton Digital, Strategy Digital, Dot Social, Flash Fomo, Digital Commons and Rova as category sponsors.

Tim Watkin, Executive Producer - Podcasts & Series at Radio New Zealand, said: “RNZ has pioneered podcasting in New Zealand, with over 100 shows on our slate. So we’re stoked to support another new step in Kiwi podcasting with the introduction of homegrown podcast awards. Given podcasts are such a global medium and how many New Zealanders overseas use RNZ as a way to stay connected with home, we thought it’d be a great idea to sponsor the award for the best podcast by a Kiwi living abroad.”
